ACT Teacher Quality Institute
The ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) is an independent statutory authority established to build the professional standing of ACT teachers and to enhance the community’s confidence in the teaching profession through professional regulation and practical initiatives.
The continuing professional learning of all ACT teachers is recognised through the inclusion of professional learning as a requirement of teacher registration and TQI’s accreditation of courses and programs.
During each school year, teachers need to record and reflect on at least 20 hours of professional learning. Therefore, for those accredited at Proficient Teacher, this involves:
- 5 hours of TQI accredited programs
- Completion of an online evaluation on the TQI portal
These processes connect a teacher’s professional learning to the Australian Professional Standard for Teachers.
Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (the Standards) are the agreed benchmarks by which quality teaching is assessed, measured and accredited in Australia. You can download the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers here.
Educator Impact is accredited to provide ACT Teacher Quality Institute Registered Professional Development for teachers accredited at Proficient Teacher level.
EI for Teachers
Completing one cycle of Educator Impact’s evidence-based professional learning for teachers will contribute 5 hours of TQI accredited professional learning.
Educator Impact’s EI for Teachers is a professional development program addressing 3.6, 6.1, 6.2 and 6.3 of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. In addition, each survey question has been mapped to a relevant focus area.
This means you can use our 360-degree feedback to see a snapshot of your teaching practice against the following Standards; Know students and how they learn; Know the content and how to teach it; Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning; Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments; and Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning.
